haven't updated this in a while, so i thought i'll post the little adventure i just had 5 minutes ago.

the fridge is getting rather empty despite the fact that i just went shopping last week, so i'm forced to either starve, eat ramen (again), or cook the brocolli i have neglected in the bottom of the fridge. i just love choices. *sigh*

so i defrosted/dethawed the pork i had in the fridge for the past month and half (called mom, she said it was okay!), attempted to wash/clean the brocolli, only to realize that the damn thing is water repellant or something. so i presumed to cut brocolli into pieces, then sliced pork into thin slices, poured a layer of veggie oil in the pot, turned on max temp, and waited for the pot to heat up.

here's the fun part. the moment i dropped the pork into the pan, oil sparked everywhere! (why wasn't i expecting that...), and the astray oil landed everywhere and burn much of my right hand. the sound "OWWWW" echoed throughout must of the apartment, but the pain failed to deter me. after a few minutes, the pork was half done. so i poured some salt, a little soy sauce (from what i remembered watching my mom cook... okay i lied, from what i remember it tasted like: salty, with soy sauce...), and then i dumped the brocolli into the pot. a few minutes later, an almost edible meal was on the plate!... except i forgot to cook rice.

anyhoo, that wasn't a bad first attempt! i didn't have to bust out the defunct fire extinguisher, smoke detector didn't go off, and i'm still alive. but for future reference, i might want to break brocolli to a smaller pieces so they don't roll over the plate and fall next to dead roaches on the floor.

just kidding about the roaches ;-)

or am i....
